And you can help us build it
while getting something useful for your own Bali trip.

Your support means a lot to us.
Not only because it helps fund what we're building.
But because every purchase tells us that someone else believes Bali is worth exploring too.
One place at a time, we're trying to make more of Bali easier to discover.
SmartBaliGuide Bali Maps 2026
You can choose between two levels of access.
Rp249K — Family + Dine Maps
You'll get access to both of our personal Google Maps:
Bali Family Map
Places our family explores, family-friendly experiences, and places we think are worth having on your radar.Bali Dine Map
Where we eat and places we want to try — with a strong focus on Indonesian and Balinese food, good views, and places with a Bali vibe. Both personal Maps are built with Google My Maps, so you can open them on your phone and use them alongside the Google Maps app you're already familiar with.
You can see our saved places around Bali, read the notes we've added, and then open the actual location in Google Maps when you need directions or current business information.
No new travel app to learn — just our Bali research organised into a map that's easy to use while you're here.
Or you can upgrade to:
Rp899K — 3,000+ Bali Locations
This gives you access to our much larger collection of 3,000+ Bali locations that we've collected and analysed for SmartBaliGuide.
Choose the smaller curated Maps if you mainly want our personal picks.
Choose the larger access if you want much more of Bali to explore.
We've been exploring Bali with our three kids since moving here in 2019.
The Family Map turns part of those years into something another family can actually use.
You'll find:
-
family-friendly places
-
activities and experiences
-
scenic places
-
easy adventures
-
places where families can spend time together
-
places we've personally enjoyed
-
selected places still on our radar
We're not trying to create the same itinerary for every family.
The goal is to help you see more possibilities and decide:
“Would this fit our family?”
-
We particularly love Indonesian and Balinese food.
So that's a big part of the Bali Dine Map.
We also collect:
-
restaurants with great views
-
places with a strong Bali atmosphere
-
local food and warungs
-
cafés
-
popular restaurants
-
selected Western and other cuisines
-
new and viral places worth watching
We're aiming to personally explore and add at least 2 new places every week.
Some places we've already tried.
Some are still on our wishlist.
And we make that difference clear.
-
Our personal Maps are intentionally curated.
But behind SmartBaliGuide, we're building something much larger.
We've already collected and analysed 3,000+ locations around Bali to be used inside the platform.
The collection covers much more than family activities and restaurants, giving you a much wider pool of places to discover around Bali.
We also continue reviewing, organising, adding and updating locations as SmartBaliGuide grows.
Please note: resorts, villas and wedding venues are not included in this access. Those are part of a separate venue collection.

Think of it as:
Our Maps show you more of our Bali.
The 3,000+ collection helps you discover more of Bali itself.
We haven't personally visited every place we include.
And we don't want to pretend we have.
Places can generally fall into two groups:
Visited by us
Places where we can share our own experience and personal POV.On our radar
Places we haven't visited yet, but believe are worth knowing about or investigating further. These may include:
-
recommendations we've received
-
places that keep coming up
-
new openings
-
viral places
-
places that look interesting enough for us to visit ourselves
We try to make that distinction clear.
A place on our radar means:
“This looks worth considering.”
It doesn't mean:
“We've personally tried and guaranteed it.”
-
We're not trying to put every Bali business into our personal Maps.
For the Family and Dine Maps, we look for places that give us a reason to care.
That might be:
-
a strong Bali atmosphere
-
local food
-
a beautiful view
-
a family experience
-
something different to try
-
somewhere we'd take visiting friends
-
somewhere that makes us curious enough to go ourselves
Popularity can help us discover a place.
But popularity alone isn't the reason it stays on our radar.
We keep asking:
“Is there a reason someone exploring Bali should know this place exists?”
-
Finding Bali information isn't difficult.
The difficult part is making sense of all of it.
There are thousands of places scattered across Google Maps, Instagram, TikTok, blogs, recommendations, drivers, locals, and word of mouth.
SmartBaliGuide is our attempt to bring more of that together.
We're working toward a platform where you can:
-
discover more Bali locations
-
understand what a place is actually like
-
compare different options
-
find places around where you already are
-
explore beyond your original itinerary
-
see different people's POV
-
make your own decision about where to go
The goal isn't to build another list telling you:
“These are the 10 best places in Bali.”
We'd rather help you discover enough options to decide:
“This is the Bali I want to explore.”
-
Bali is already one of the world's best-known holiday destinations.
But that doesn't mean all of Bali is equally easy to discover.
Many visitors naturally end up around the same popular areas and the same well-known places.
There's nothing wrong with those places.
But Bali is a small island with much more spread across it.
We believe better digital discovery can help make more of Bali:
visible, easier to understand, and easier to navigate.
That may help some travellers feel confident enough to try a different restaurant, visit another area, or add somewhere they would never have found otherwise.
We're not pretending SmartBaliGuide will solve overtourism.
But if we can help spread a little more curiosity beyond the same few places, that's a contribution we'd be proud to make.
You're buying something you can actually use for your own Bali trip.
But your purchase also helps us continue building SmartBaliGuide.
That support goes toward the ongoing work of:
-
discovering new places
-
visiting places ourselves
-
researching locations
-
organising information
-
maintaining and improving the Maps
-
updating our location database
-
creating Bali content
-
building SmartBaliGuide
-
encouraging more real people to share their own POV
And that means a lot to us.
Not only because your purchase helps fund the work.
But because it means someone else wants to be part of the same idea:
Bali is worth exploring.
Every person who joins gives us another reason to keep building.
-
Collecting locations is one challenge.
Getting real people to share what they actually experienced is another.
That's an important part of where we want SmartBaliGuide to go.
Because promotional photos can show what a place wants you to see.
A real POV can help you understand:
-
what it actually felt like
-
who the place may suit
-
what surprised someone
-
what they liked
-
what they didn't
-
whether it was worth the trip
And we don't want those POVs to come only from our family.
Over time, we'd love SmartBaliGuide to include perspectives from travellers, locals, families, drivers, and other people who actually experience Bali.
More places are useful.
More real perspectives make those places easier to understand.
-
Your purchase includes updates for the current calendar year, January through December.
During that time, we'll continue updating the Maps and location collections as we discover, visit, research, and organise more places.
After the calendar year ends, your existing access can still be used.
However, updates added in future calendar years will not automatically be included unless you renew your access.
SmartBaliGuide itself is still growing, so the information and structure may also continue improving as we learn what makes it more useful.
After your purchase, we'll use the email address you provided to give you access.
For our Family and Dine Maps, access is provided through Google My Maps, so please use the Google account you want to open the Maps with.
Please allow up to 24 hours for us to add your email to the appropriate Maps or location access.
Once permission has been granted, we'll send a confirmation to the same email address.
Please make sure:
-
your email address is correct
-
you can access that email
-
you use the same Google account when opening the Maps
If you choose the Rp249K option, you'll receive access to the Family + Dine Maps.
If you choose the Rp899K upgrade, you'll receive access to the broader 3,000+ SmartBali location collection included with that option.

We're Wiki and Ilona, the husband and wife behind this platform, Smart Bali Guide.
We've lived in Bali since 2019.
You may also know us through:

Where I share our family's experience exploring Bali and turn those years into something other families can use.POVHusbandBali
Where I share more of the people, work, and thinking behind what we're building together.Bali Wedding Guide
Before this, we spent years working as destination wedding photographers and videographers.I also previously authored the Bali Wedding Guide.
Now we're starting a new chapter: visiting and listing Bali wedding venues, while sharing what years behind the camera taught us about choosing a venue that can create a truly memorable wedding.
Not just:
“Which venue looks beautiful?”
But:
“Which venue will actually work for the experience, moments, photos and film you want to remember?”
And then there's:
The place where we're trying to turn all those discoveries, experiences, locations, and different POVs into something useful.
This isn't just about collecting Bali pins.
Our family has chosen to see how far we can take this mission.
One place at a time.
One POV at a time.
Making Bali a little easier for the next person to explore.
